Paz Marquez Benitez was born on 3 March, 1894 in Lucena, Tayabas, Philippines. Her father was Gregorio. Maria Jurado was her mother. Both her parents were teachers, which gave rise to Paz Marquez Benitez’s respect and admiration of the education profession.
She was a teacher of English at the Philippines University, after she graduated. In 1925, her first publication of “Dead Stars” was as a professor of English. In 1952 she was able to retire. For 35 years, she taught short stories writing classes.
